HOMELESSNESS charity ALABARÉ is inviting cryptocurrency donations for the first time as digital currency like Bitcoin and Dogecoin grows in popularity.
The Salisbury-based charity is marking a bold step toward innovation and inclusivity in charitable giving, making it easier to support its mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness.
The initiative is a partnership between JustGiving and The Giving Block, which will securely handle donations made through the JustGiving platform.
This means donors can give without worrying about currency exchange rates or geographical barriers.
Every crypto donation goes directly into ALABARÉ’s vital services, where it provides homes, restores hearts and empowers minds for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
It also supports the charity’s work with veterans, young people and parents with babies, individuals with learning disabilities and people facing mental health challenges.
ALABARÉ’s director of central services Emma Hart said: “We’re excited to offer cryptocurrency donations as part of our commitment to inclusivity and innovation.
“This opens the door to a new audience of supporters who value flexibility and modern giving options in addition to the traditional forms of giving. It’s important to us that everyone who wants to help break the cycle of homelessness can do so in a way that works for them.”
JustGiving’s policies ensure that the source of donations is verified for their legitimacy, with anonymous cryptocurrency donations not accepted.
Donations can now be made through ALABARÉ’s JustGiving page.
