A MAJOR investment scheme to improve the county’s bus shelters and bus stops will be considered next week.
Wiltshire Council will discuss a contract to upgrade bus stop infrastructure, including timetable cases and enhancements to bus stop accessibility, at a Cabinet meeting on December 9.
If approved, the contract would run for five years, from February 2026 to February 2031, with an option to extend for up to five years.
The contract cost will be funded by current and future Government grant allocations.
Cabinet member for highways Cllr Martin Smith said: “Buses play a vital role in connecting our communities, and we know how important it is to provide high-quality bus shelters that meet the needs of local people.
“Many of our bus shelters need repair or replacement, and this contract will ensure we can deliver high-quality, accessible facilities that encourage more people to use public transport.”
