Police foot patrols stepped up over Christmas

POLICE in Salisbury have been patrolling the city’s retailers to raise awareness of shoplifting.

PC Payne and officers from Salisbury Response Team 2 visited several shops as part of a targeted operation known as Op Dasher.

A police spokesman said: “Shoplifting typically increases over the Christmas period, so increased foot patrols, a visible police presence and close partnership working with local businesses all play an important role in preventing offences and dealing robustly with offenders.

“If you see anything suspicious or something doesn’t feel quite right, please alert a member of store staff and call 101 for further advice. Always call 999 in an emergency.”
