POLICE were called to Amesbury over the weekend following reports of a suspicious green character attempting to dampen the Christmas spirit.

The male, infamously known as The Grinch, from The Cave, Mount Crumpit, North of Whoville, was located “green handed” attempting to steal candy canes, presents, decorations and trees in Central Car Park.

One arrest was made by PCSO Morphy and PCSO Douse from the neighbourhood policing team for crimes against Christmas with The Grinch remanded in custody until he embraces the festivities

The policing team said: “We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy 2026.”
