REMEDIAL safety repairs are being carried out at the Market Place underground toilets resulting in temporary closures over the weekend.

Work has been taking place on the steps leading to the ladies’ toilets to improve safety.

However, additional repairs were required and newly adjusted paving now needs until Monday to fully set.

As a result, the underground ladies’ night toilets will be closed tonight and on Saturday night, while both the ladies’ and men’s main underground toilets will be closed during the daytime on Saturday.

For those attending Saturday’s Charter Market, alternative facilities will be available.

The men’s night toilets and the ground-level accessible toilet will remain open for use during the day.

Overnight tonight and on Saturday, the men’s night toilet will also be open.

All facilities are expected to reopen on the next market day on Tuesday (January 13), once final safety checks have been completed.
