Care home celebrates ‘Good’ rating by inspectors

A CARE HOME on the edge near Salisbury has been given a positive verdict by inspectors with residents praising the kindness and dedication of staff.

Ashley Grange care home, run by Hartford Care and located on Lode Hill in Downton, has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection carried out last month.

The regulator’s report found the home to be performing well across all key areas, concluding that the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Inspectors highlighted a strong, compassionate culture among staff and noted that residents said they felt safe and happy with the care they received.

According to the report, residents were well supported and treated as individuals with staff showing consistent compassion and kindness while respecting their privacy and dignity.

Inspectors also noted that people were actively involved in decisions about their care, which was tailored to their needs, preferences, abilities and personal backgrounds.

Activities at the home were another strength with residents offered a varied programme ranging from group sessions to one-to-one activities, all optional and based on individual choice.

Home manager Alison Weatherall welcomed the outcome of the inspection.

She said: “We are thrilled to achieve our ‘Good’ rating from CQC. We have a shared vision, strategy and culture across Hartford Care, and this is highlighted by our wonderful team at Ashley Grange, who go above and beyond to ensure everyone is cared for compassionately and respectfully in a warm and inclusive ‘home from home’ environment.”

Ashley Grange provides residential and dementia care, as well as respite breaks, day care and end of life care.

The 50-bedroom home is set in Wiltshire countryside close to the New Forest, with communal spaces and landscaped gardens offering wide-ranging rural views.
