FACILITIES at Salisbury Crematorium are to receive a £15,000 eco-upgrade, as the city council attempts to reduce its carbon footprint.
The improvements introduce an Eco Mode software enhancement that significantly reduces fossil fuel consumption.
Salisbury City Council said this directly supports its Environmental Policy which outlines a commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Although sustainability is the primary driver of this initiative, the increased efficiency will also help to reduce operating costs, creating opportunities to reinvest funds into other core council services.
Chair of the environment committee Cllr Jenny Bolwell said: “This upgrade supports our goal of reducing the council’s carbon footprint and we will continue to identify opportunities to advance the sustainability of our services.”
