Second Lidl to open in city with prizes and exclusive offers

A SECOND Lidl store is set to throw open its doors in Salisbury next week, bringing new jobs, special offers and grand opening day celebrations to the city.

Lidl GB has confirmed its new store on Churchill Way West will open on Thursday, February 26, with the community invited to join the launch from 7am.

Shoppers heading along on opening day can expect complimentary food sampling and the chance to win special prizes, alongside exclusive offers available only at the new store.

The supermarket will be open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The 1,465m² sales area will include Lidl’s popular in-store bakery and its well-known Middle of Lidl section, as well as customer facilities including toilets with baby-changing.

Outside, there will be parking for cars and bicycles, plus rapid electric vehicle chargers.

Solar panels installed on the roof will help power the store as part of the company’s commitment to renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Lidl has served households in Salisbury for more than 15 years and, through its Feed it Back surplus food donation scheme with partner Neighbourly, has redistributed more than 16,000 meals to local charities and those in need.

James Mitchell, regional head of property for Lidl GB, said: “We are thrilled to officially open our second Lidl store in Salisbury.

“This fantastic new store is a direct response to the local demand for high-quality, affordable groceries, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome the community inside.

“A huge thank you to everyone who helped us turn these plans into a reality – we can’t wait to start making a real difference to your weekly shop.”

The new store will create up to 40 jobs. Lidl also recently announced a £29 million investment in colleague pay, confirming it will once again be the highest paying UK supermarket, with entry-level pay of £13.45 nationally, alongside enhanced family leave and a 10% in-store discount from day one.
