Wilton welcomes new community market with weekend of traders and live music

A NEW community market launches in Wilton this weekend, promising a lively mix of traders, artisan goods, food and entertainment.

The first Our Local Market takes place on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 at Wilton Village – formerly known as The Guild – running from 10am to 4pm each day.

Organisers say interest from traders has already been strong, with a large number of stalls booked for the opening weekend.

Visitors can expect a wide range of goods on offer, including cakes, street food, jewellery, clothing, gifts, wine and spirits, alongside handmade crafts and locally produced items from independent makers and artisan producers.

Live entertainment will add to the atmosphere across the weekend, with performances from Bob Primmer, Simon Lane and the Sing for Fun Choir.

The launch also coincides with Mother’s Day weekend, and organisers have planned a special gesture for visiting families.

The first 80 mums who attend the market on Sunday will be given a free bunch of daffodils.

Shoppers will also have the chance to enter a free prize draw to win a hamper filled with products from the market’s traders.

The official launch will be attended by mayor of Wilton Cllr Chris Harrison.

Set within the attractive surroundings of Wilton Village, the market aims to create a relaxed community space where people can browse stalls, support businesses and enjoy a day out with family and friends.

Free on-site parking will also be available for visitors.

Organisers hope the event will become a regular fixture in the town’s calendar, with further market dates already planned for April 11–12 and May 9–10.

Entry to the market is free.
