Wilton prepares to blast off for 2026 carnival

PLANS are already taking off in Wilton for one of the summer’s most colourful community events and organisers are calling on people to get involved.

Wilton Community Carnival will return on Saturday, July 4 with a space-themed celebration titled ‘Wilton: Out of This World’.

Organisers are hoping this year’s procession will be bigger and more imaginative than ever.

Community groups, schools, performers, businesses and residents are all being invited to take part in the parade, which promises a vibrant mix of creativity, music and fun through the town.

From eye-catching floats to costumed walkers, dancers and drummers, there is room for everyone – whether you want to “rocket into action, sparkle like a supernova, or simply want to be part of a joyful day full of fun, colour, and cosmic creativity”.

The carnival has long been a highlight in Wilton’s calendar, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds.

This year’s intergalactic theme is expected to inspire everything from astronauts and aliens to robots and futuristic designs.

Organisers are encouraging participants to think big – but stress that entries of all sizes are welcome, whether simple or spectacular.

In a post shared online, they said: “We’re blasting off and calling all community groups, schools, performers, businesses, and creative stars to join our spectacular carnival procession.

“Big or small, futuristic or fantastical – let your imagination launch into space.”

Those keen to take part can now sign up to secure a place in the procession, with early interest already building.

With a few months to go, organisers hope the town will once again come together to create a carnival to remember – packed with colour, creativity and community spirit.

This year’s event is being sponsored by Pavers shoe retailer, which recently opened a store at the newly revamped Wilton Village shopping destination.
