A CHARITY walk in Salisbury is set to get an extra boost this summer, thanks to new backing from a major local transport company.

Salisbury Reds has been announced as a key sponsor for the Stars Appeal’s popular Walk for Wards 2026 event, helping to make the day more accessible for hundreds of participants.

As part of its support, the bus operator will provide a shuttle service on the day, transporting walkers between Wilton House and the Park and Ride – making it easier for families and supporters to take part in the fundraising event.

The partnership goes even further, with Salisbury Reds also naming Stars Appeal – Salisbury District Hospital’s charity – as its official good cause for both 2026 and 2027.

The Walk for Wards event is one of the charity’s biggest annual fundraisers, inviting people of all ages to explore the scenic Wilton Estate while raising vital funds for hospital services.

Salisbury Reds general manager Andrew Sherrington said: “Stars Appeal is our official charity partner – and we’re keen to help raise as much awareness as possible for this very worthy cause.

“Many of our team members have close links to the charity and this is a great chance for us to support its work.

“The Walk for Wards event is a fantastic family occasion – giving local people the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Wilton Estate, and to raise funds in the process.

“I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a Sunday this summer, than to spend it in support of Stars Appeal – and I’m looking forward to joining everyone there this July.”

Organisers say the continued support from businesses is vital in helping the charity fund life-saving equipment, enhance patient care and improve hospital facilities.

With free entry now open, the event is expected to attract large numbers once again, bringing together the community for a day of fresh air, fundraising and support for a cause close to many hearts.
