Community votes Odstock Health & Fitness Centre as Gym of the Year

A FITNESS centrein Salisbury has been crowned Gym of the Year after winning a public vote organised by a local publication.

Odstock Health & Fitness Centre, based at Salisbury District Hospital, took the title after readers voted for their favourite fitness facility in the area.

The competition, organised by the Salisbury Journal, recognised gyms that go above and beyond through expert coaching, inclusive classes and strong support for members of all ages and abilities.

Centre manager Sally Crook said: “Being named Gym of the Year, voted by the community, means a tremendous amount to our team.

“The highly-trained and qualified team work hard to offer an encouraging, friendly environment, supporting our members and casual users, whether they’re hospital staff, patients or members of the public, through their exercise journey, whether they are recovering from illness or injury, entering the world of fitness for the first time or just offering tips and advice to regular gym users.”

The centre, located on the hospital site, features a fully equipped gym, two swimming pools, squash courts, fitness classes and treatment rooms.

It also runs the Odstock Orcas swim school, teaching everyone from babies to adults and working with charity Level Water to provide swimming lessons for children with special educational needs.

Sally added: “The Odstock Health & Fitness Centre is essential to the wellbeing of the hospital staff, patients and the local community, and with the wide range of activities available, there is something to offer everyone.

“Social groups are made, friendships formed and the team are always there to deliver with their enthusiasm and passion.”
