A WILTON church is making final preparations for its traditional summer fayre, happening later this month.
St Peter’s Church, in Fugglestone, Wilton, plans to step back in time to encourage some traditional community spirit with their event promising ‘summer charm’.
Attendees will be able to play traditional games like cornhole, ring toss and ‘walk the trail’ with organisers saying they want people to “experience the church as it originally was” describing it as “a place where neighbours gathered to celebrate, share stories, and create lasting memories”.

The day will feature traditional Morris dancing alongside performances by musicians from the area. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy listening to recitals on a hand-pumped pipe organ, a rare and historic musical treasure in the cool of the church building.
Completing the experience, a selection of cream teas and other refreshments will also be available.
Organised by the Fugglestone St Peter Trust, a community-led initiative working to secure lottery funding for the restoration and revitalisation of the church building, trustees will be on hand throughout the afternoon to discuss plans for expanding the church’s role as a community space – and visitors can even take aim at them with wet sponges in a traditional pillory.
The summer fayre, taking place on July 25 from 10am to 4pm, is free to attend, with all proceeds supporting the restoration project.
