IF you’re the type of person who can think quickly and remain calm under pressure, you could play an important role in the safety of Salisbury.
Salisbury City Council is currently on the hunt for volunteer CCTV operators to join the team.
The council’s CCTV monitoring service is a dedicated team of volunteer operators who oversee the city’s state-of-the-art CCTV and radio system.
Working closely with the police, city partners and local businesses, volunteers support public safety by observing activity across the city centre and reporting incidents when necessary.
Whether people are shopping during the day, visiting local attractions or enjoying Salisbury’s nightlife, CCTV plays a vital role in creating an environment where everyone feels safe.

Keith Jackson, CCTV Manager, said, “Volunteering as a CCTV operator offers a rewarding opportunity to give something back to the community while also developing valuable skills.
“Successful applicants will undergo a police vetting process before receiving comprehensive training to prepare them for the role.
“By volunteering, you can help make a real difference to the safety of Salisbury and help to protect the people who live, work and visit the city every day.”
Salisbury City Council CCTV operatives – role requirements
The City Council is looking for people who:
- are aged 18 and over
- can multitask effectively
- are confident using technology
- can think quickly and remain calm under pressure
- have a keen eye for detail and passion for helping others
