A MOTORCYCLIST sadly died after a crash in Ashley Heath yesterday (February 23).
The incident happened on Horton Road, near the junction with Woolsbridge Road, at around 5.38pm, police said, involving a black Kawasaki motorcycle and a black Vauxhall Grandland.
“Emergency services attended and very sadly the motorcyclist – a man aged in his 30s from Brighton in Sussex – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a man aged in his 70s from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, did not sustain any serious injuries.
Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded and an examination of the collision scene was carried out.
Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and the loved ones of the man who sadly died as a result of this collision and officers are doing all they can to support them.
“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.
“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam fitted who were driving in the vicinity around the time of the incident to please review their footage to check if they have captured anything of relevance.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
