Bin collection delays and queues hit Amesbury recycling centre

RESIDENTS in Amesbury could face delayed bin collections and long queues at the town’s recycling centre after access to a nearby waste facility was restricted.

Wiltshire Council has warned that a damaged manhole cover at the Hills Transfer Station in Amesbury is causing disruption, with waste collection vehicles facing significant delays getting in and out of the site.

As a result, some household waste and recycling collections may be delayed, although residents are being urged to put their bins out as normal.

The issue is also affecting the Amesbury Household Recycling Centre, which sits next to the transfer station, with motorists warned to expect long queues.

Council bosses are advising people to visit at a quieter time if possible while the problem is resolved.

The disruption comes as collection vehicles queue to access the site, slowing operations across the area.

Wiltshire Council said updates on the issue will be shared through its service disruption page as work continues to restore normal access.
