Casting call: Budding child actors sought for Wiltshire Creative production

ATTENTION all budding child actors, there’s a new show in the offing and its makers need you.

A brand new Wiltshire Creative production, celebrating the life and times of comedian Larry Grayson, requires four talented male performers, and applications are now open.

This exceptional opportunity offers youngsters the chance to work and perform with a professional acting company and production team on the Main Stage at Salisbury Playhouse.

The play, being performed during next year’s spring season, will see the four children sharing two roles, creating two teams of young people, with each child appearing in half the performances.

Wiltshire Creative are looking for young male actors aged between 11-14 years old, two who will play the role of Young Larry, and two playing Tom, Larry’s friend.

While it is undoubtedly an amazing experience, it is also a big commitment with a rigorous schedule of rehearsal and performance dates which they will need to ensure they can attend before auditioning for the parts.

The show does come with a warning however, with applicants needing to understand that the themes and content of the show includes sexual innuendo, smoking, mentions of violence, homosexuality, alcohol and some instances of derogatory language.

Audition registration is now open and the deadline for applying is 9am on September 18.

Auditions will be held at Salisbury Playhouse on October 1 from 5pm to 7pm, led by Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative and Director on Larry, and Youth Theatre Leader, Clare Threadgold.

Auditions last around 1 hour and will involve playing games, looking at a section of a scene, and, if applying for the role of young Larry, singing solo.
