Celebrate Salisbury’s independent stores in style as Tote bag returns

Salisbury Business Improvement District (BID) has announced that the City of Independents Tote Bag Campaign is back for another year. “This exciting initiative celebrates the invaluable contributions of independent businesses in Salisbury,” a campaign statement read.

As a symbol of support for these local enterprises, the campaign offers complimentary City of Independents tote bags to customers, ensuring they can shop and support their favourite independent stores in style.

The bags have been designed to showcase the unique charm and vitality of Salisbury’s independent business community. Featuring a freehand one-line artist drawing of the Salisbury landscape, the bags serve as a visual representation of the essential role that independent businesses play in shaping the fabric of our city.

To claim their free tote bag, customers are invited to visit and spend at one of over 50 participating independent stores (see list below) in Salisbury.

With a minimum purchase of £20, customers will receive a complimentary City of Independents tote bag, subject to availability. The campaign runs throughout the entire month of July (and while stocks last), giving customers ample opportunity to show their support for local independent businesses.

Susi Mason, owner of Casa Fina on the High Street for almost 40 years, expressed her enthusiasm for the campaign, saying: “As a proud participant in the previous Salisbury Indies Tote Bag Campaign, I can very much vouch for the positive impact it has on our business. The bags not only create a sense of community and pride among customers, they also serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting independent businesses for the sustainability of our vibrant high street.”

Salisbury BID is urging residents and visitors alike to seize this opportunity to support local independent businesses. “By choosing to shop local and support independents, we can collectively contribute to the longevity and vitality of our high street, ensuring that Salisbury remains a thriving retail destination.”

The BID team is asking for shoppers to share photos of their tote bags on social media, tagging @experiencesalisbury and using the hashtag #yourcityofindependents
