Child suffers life-threatening injuries in A338 crash near Downton

A CHILD suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash near Downton on Wednesday morning (July 26).

The incident occurred on the A338 Downton Road at around 7.30am, involving three vehicles.

A woman in her 20s also suffered serious injuries in the crash, while another child suffered minor injuries.

Police said a Vauxhall Astra was travelling southbound on the A338 between Charlton-All-Saints and Downton, when it collided with a Ford Transit coming in the opposite direction.

It then continued along the road, colliding with a Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Vauxhall was the woman in her 20s, with child passenger in the rear suffering life-threatening injuries. The other child passenger sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota also suffered serious injuries, while the driver of the Ford suffered no reported injuries.

The road was closed for some time after the incident.
