Early morning police chase involving 15-year-old ends in crash

TWO people have been arrested after a dramatic early-hours police pursuit involving a stolen car that ended in a crash on the A303.

Officers were alerted at around 3.50am (April 21) to reports that a vehicle had been stolen from a property in Ross Road in Ludgershall.

Several other vehicles in the area were also targeted with items taken and signs of tampering.

Specialist roads policing officers quickly tracked the stolen grey Vauxhall Insignia travelling eastbound on the A303.

When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was authorised.

The chase lasted only a matter of minutes before coming to a sudden end when the vehicle crashed near the junction for Barton Stacey in Hampshire.

Police swiftly moved in and arrested the occupants.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug after cannabis was located in his possession.

A 15-year-old boy, who was in the front passenger seat, was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

Officers are now appealing for information from the public as enquiries continue.

They are particularly keen to hear from residents in Ross Road and the surrounding area who may have noticed suspicious activity overnight, including discarded items, missing property from vehicles or signs that cars had been interfered with.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 54260047111.
