Salisbury Chamber Chorus thinks this Christmas is going to be time for a bit of lavish and unnecessary lack of restraint.

Our concerts on 9th and 10th December are A Christmas Extravagance, a feast with all the trimmings, bursting with baubles and topped up with tinsel.

A Christmas Extravagance will ricochet from classical to contemporary Christmas classics and back again – Handel? Of course. Mariah Carey? Absolutely! Choruses from the operas of Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel? Yes. Winter Wonderland? Also yes. Arrangements of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Troika? And a medley of music by ABBA’s Benny Andersson? And White Christmas? Why not? We’re feeling extravagant.

Directed by Simon McEnery, and with some special surprise guests, it promises to be a highlight of Salisbury’s Christmas season.

The 40-strong Salisbury Chamber Chorus, formed in 2011, is an ensemble with a difference. Spanning the operatic and choral repertoires, its hallmark is a committed, full-bodied sound that brings a varied programme of music excitingly to life.
