Family Fun at Pick Your Own with the Pumpkin Olympics

FAMILIES can enjoy a horde of Halloween games and activities this half term.

Designed for all ages, the spooky contest is taking place at Ansty Farm, just off the A30 between Shaftesbury and Salisbury.

The farm shop has been in the same family for over 25 years, with the Pumpkin Olympics held for 20 of those.

Farm owner, K Price, said the games are: “fantastic silly simple fun for all ages.

“From Pumpkin Pong to Croquet. Pumpkin Hula Hoop, Skittles and Pumpkin and spade races.

“There are also two Halloween code cracking trails to solve, one for younger visitors and one for older visitors.

“Crack the code hidden within the trail and unlock the lock box in the Farm Shop to win a pumpkin gingerbread cookie.”

Normally, the visitors play the games with a chosen vegetable or potato, but this year they are asked to bring a soft ball to compete with.

“Pumpkineers who have ventured to our games before will know that a different sized potato or ball is great for some games and not others.

“Hint – maybe a small ball would be better.”

If you’re looking for something to take home, you can choose the perfect pumpkin to make a lantern in the Pick Your Own fields or buy one straight from the farm shop. Entrance to the fields is free and the pumpkins are sold by weight.

You can also treat yourself to a hot drink and a slice of cake at the Ansty Tea Room, or a trip to the farm shop which features its own bakery.

The games cost £5.50 per person or £20 for four.
