A MAN suffered facial injuries in an attack in Salisbury city centre, which saw a good Samaritan also assaulted.
The incident unfolded outside the Guildhall, in Market Square, at around 9.30pm on July 13.
Police said a man in his 50s was assaulted by another man which caused an injury to his face.
“It is believed the pair were known to each other,” a spokesperson said.
“When a witness attempted to call 999 to report the incident, the same man assaulted him and attempted to make off with his rucksack.”
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
“We believe there were witnesses to the incident and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, including any phone footage that people may have which could assist our enquiries,” the spokesperson added.
