How Scouts have been delivering cards this Christmas – for a good cause

YOUNG people have been working hard to deliver Christmas cards – to raise funds for a new campsite.

The Scout Christmas Post has been in full swing this year, with youngsters collecting, sorting and delivering cards across the Salisbury and South Wiltshire district.

Scouts are hoping to top last year’s total of 40,389 cards delivered, while raising vital funds to help them secure their own campsite in the area.

Sorting took place at the Salisbury Scout HQ, Dennis Marsh House in Westminster Road, with Scouts busy delivering cards over the last two weeks.

Harnham Scouts held a Christmas Post Hike in order to deliver cards to the villages of Nunton, Odstock and Bodenham.

Mark Warner, assistant district commissioner (Scouts), said: “It’s great that the Scouts get an opportunity to provide a service to the local community and also get to know their local area.”
