THE Mayor of Wilton is lacing up his walking boots and heading out in the dark of night, all for a good cause this month, and asking others to join him.
Councillor Chris Harrison is taking part in the Midnight Walk for Salisbury Hospice following the announcement that the hospice’s Sponsor a Nurse campaign would be the Mayor’s Charity of the Year.
On September 19, as darkness falls, the walk will see the city’s streets lit up, honoring and celebrating lost loved ones and raising vital funds for the charity.
This year’s theme is wings and sparkles and invites participants to choose a fitting outfit, equipped with glowing accessories, and walk side by side with friends, family and Wilton Town Councillors as the streets are “filled with light, laughter and reflection.”
For those wanting to add some extra pizzazz to their look, they can start the evening with a stop off at the glitter stations, as well as adding a heartfelt message to a memory star, and participating in the warm-up party beneath the night sky, before setting off.

Cllr Harrison said: “I’m stepping out under the stars to help ensure everyone in our community has access to the exceptional care the Hospice provides.
“Every step I take and every donation you give, makes a difference. Your support helps ensure that no one has to face the end of life alone.”
If you would like to walk with the mayor, and other Wilton town councillors, you can choose from a six or 10 mile route, starting and finishing at Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
The walk is open to everyone aged 12 and over and four-legged friends are also welcome to join.
