THE Liberal Democrats have become the largest party at Salisbury City Council following last week’s election.
24 seats were up for grabs this year, but it was the Lib Dems that walked away with a majority of 10 councillors.
This was closely followed by Labour (six), Conservatives (four), Reform UK (1) and three Independents.
Labour would have had seven councillors had John Wells not left the Labour Party in March after a row over an ‘all women shortlist’.

The results mean the Lib Dems were just three seats short from declaring an overall majority.
Prior to the election, the council was led by an administration consisting of Labour and Lib Dem councillors and Independent Annie Riddle.
The new administration is expected to be decided shortly.
Elections also took place simultaneously across the county, with the Lib Dems sweeping to victory as they put an end to 25 years of Conservative rule.
However, the Lib Dems fell just six seats from securing overall control as talks of a coalition heat up. Read more about that here.
