Man, 23, arrested after alleged violent incident in car in Verwood

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after an alleged violent incident in a car in Verwood.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to come forward after reports of assault and criminal damage at between 3pm and 3.30pm on June 3.

Police said a woman in her 20s was driving a grey Nissan Qashqai in the area of Manor Road towards the Manor Roundabout and on to Burnbake Road towards The Grove when the incident unfolded.

“During the journey her male passenger, who was known to the victim, is reported to have become aggressive and started smashing items inside the vehicle before assaulting the victim,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“He is then reported to have got out of the vehicle on Burnbake Road and made off on foot.”

They said a 23-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault and he has been released on police bail.

PC Poppy Norman, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to please contact us.

“I would also urge any motorists who were in the area around the relevant time to please check any dashcam footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
