POLICE pursued a suspected drink-driver for 10 miles before he was arrested.
At shortly before midnight on Monday (August 28), Dorset Police officers tried to stop a Volkswagen Polo in Tidworth Road, Ludgershall, as they were suspicious about the ‘manner of driving’.
“The driver failed to stop and made off from police,” a spokesperson said.
“A pursuit was authorised through Ludgershall, onto the A342 to Leckford crossroads, through Tidworth and into Bulford.
“Officers were able to stop the vehicle on the A303 eastbound.”
A man in his 20s from Laverstock was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, no insurance and drink driving.
“He was taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning and enquiries are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
“This month, we’ve been raising awareness of the fatal five offences on our roads – drink and drug driving, careless driving, excess speed, no seatbelts and using a mobile phone while driving.
“This follows a rise in serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads.”
