A CRASH on The Avenue near Wilton saw one man die and three others taken to hospital.

A red Vauxhall Astra travelling towards Wilton reportedly crashed head-on with a white Mercedes Sprinter minivan travelling in the opposite direction at around 3.20pm last Friday (May 2).

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man in his 50s, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes and two child passengers were taken to hospital, where they were treated for injuries not deemed to be life-threatening.

Police said the next of kin of the Vauxhall driver has been informed, and their “thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
