Man who attacked Salisbury bus driver charged with assault

AARON Fernando has been charged and convicted by police after a Salisbury bus driver was attacked at the weekend.

The bus driver was assaulted in Blue Boar Row just before 11am on October 26, causing the bus to come to a sudden stop.

Police initially arrested one man in his 40s at the time of the assault, who has now been released without further action, but later located and apprehended a second suspect.

Fernando, 35, of Beauchamp Proctor Rise, Longhedge, was arrested and charged with assault, public service vehicle – passenger causing nuisance and refusing to leave, and two counts of using threatening or abusive words/behaviour to cause distress.

“Fernando pleaded guilty to all four offences at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court yesterday (October 28),” a Salisbury police spokesperson said.

“He has been released on conditional bail until he is sentenced at the same court on December 9.

“The man in his 40s was released without further action.”
