New electric vans boost Salisbury’s parks team

FOUR new electric vehicles are doing the rounds at Salisbury parks.

Salisbury City Council has added the electric vans to its fleet, meaning half of the Parks Team vehicles are now electric.

The vans, Ford Leader Transit 350 L2s, were purchased through Hendy Ford and are on a five-year lease to the authority.

The Parks Team now has four electric vehicles and one hybrid electric vehicle, the latter purchased in 2021.

The vans will be used to travel with equipment to Salisbury’s parks on a daily basis for grounds maintenance, including gardening, strimming, and pitch marking, as well as important safety checks and inspections.

The new vans are the latest move to honour the council’s commitment to lower its carbon footprint for a greener, cleaner Salisbury, the council said.

It hopes to replace all council-owned vehicles with those powered by electricity as soon as practically possible, a spokesperson added.
