SALISBURY is set to become a giant playground for wellbeing this summer as Breathing Spaces 2026 brings ten days of outdoor activities, nature and community events to the city.

From Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, July 5, parks, rivers, allotments and green spaces across Salisbury and nearby villages will host a packed programme of free and low-cost events designed to boost both physical and mental wellbeing.

The city-wide showcase, organised by Safer and Supportive Salisbury, promises something for all ages, whether that is river dipping, wildlife talks and guided nature walks, or paddle sports tasters, yoga in the park and conservation volunteering.

Families can also get involved with outdoor arts, gardening sessions and activities aimed at helping people reconnect with nature and each other.

Organisers said the event is about far more than just fresh air.

Chair for Safer and Supportive Salisbury Anne Trevett said: “Breathing Spaces isn’t just about tapping into the inspiring green and blue spaces here on our doorstep, it’s also about reaching out and forming friendships within our community so we can access these spaces together and feel welcomed and supported.

“It is a community-wide event for everyone, and a directory is available of friendly contacts to get you experiencing the outdoors and finding your own happy place.”

Printed programmes with a bright green cover will be available across Salisbury, while an online programme and interactive map will help people discover events happening nearby. Many activities are free, although some will need booking in advance.

The showcase will also highlight Salisbury’s Safe Places network – cafés, shops and public buildings where people feeling anxious, vulnerable or in need of support can seek help.

Breathing Spaces is the latest themed event from Safer and Supportive Salisbury, which has been promoting wellbeing and community connection in the city since 2014.

The 2026 event also forms part of the countdown to Salisbury 800 in 2027, marking the 800th anniversary of Salisbury Charter Market.
