PCs arrest man after hearing alarm while on the beat in Salisbury

A MAN was arrested by police officers on patrol in Salisbury this morning (Sunday).

The suspect, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of burglary in the Old Sarum area and remains in custody in Swindon.

The incident unfolded at just after 10am, when PC Rachel Gunn and PCSO Jenny Moss were on patrol in Old Sarum, when they heard an alarm.

“When officers conducted a check of the building they located a local male who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

“The male has also been identified as the suspect for a number of recent thefts in the area and will also be spoken to about these while in custody.

“Following a premises search approximately £3,500 of suspected stolen goods were located and seized.”
