FOUR new pitches – each containing a caravan and mobile home – as well as a dayroom structure could be installed on a Ferndown site if plans are approved.
The scheme, for 0.45 hectares of land at Angel Lane, off Pompeys Lane, has been submitted to Dorset Council by Green Planning Services Ltd on behalf of James Howett.
Application details said the permission would be for “the use of land for the stationing of caravans for residential use and the erection of dayrooms and laying of hardstanding ancillary to that use”.
It comes after a previous application for a gypsy/traveller site were allowed on appeal.
The fresh planning bid includes “four additional pitches, each consisting of one mobile home, one touring caravan, and one dayroom”.
“The dayroom will provide facilities that enable the occupants of the caravans to minimise the recognised hazards associated with cooking and fire in the close confines of caravans, and to provide facilities for washing, bathing and the
maintenance of basic hygiene,” the application said.
“The dayroom will be constructed out of brick/block work as in keeping with the surrounding developments in the area.”
It said the plans had been drawn up to “mitigate visual impact”.
