Police appeal for footage of Old Sarum Airfield fire

POLICE have reissued their appeal for witnesses and are seeking more footage after a large-scale fire broke out at Old Sarum Airfield earlier this month.

A fire broke out at the historic airfield at around 6pm on April 17 which destroyed the Grade I listed First World War Hangar 3 and the nearby Hangar 3 Old Sarum café.

This comes shortly after Old Sarum Airfield Ltd received planning permission on appeal following a drawn-out saga to build 315 homes, a flying hub and leisure facilities at the site earlier this month.

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire, and Wiltshire Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area shortly before the fire started.

A spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to anyone who recorded the fire to send it through to us, including those who were nearby and not necessarily at the scene itself.”

Anyone with footage is asked to email it to 70382@wiltshire.police.uk
