POLICE arrested a man after reports of a person armed with a MACHETE in Salisbury city centre on Tuesday morning (August 18).
The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning, when Wiltshire Police officers PC Munns and PC Taylor received “a report of a man in Salisbury city centre in possession of a machete”.
“Our officers quickly made to the scene and within moments identified (a) man, who subsequently ran from officers,” a spokesperson said.
“PC Heath chased the suspect, and he was quickly detained and arrested after PC Brown located the weapon in his backpack.
“He has subsequently been charged and is due to appear in court.
“There is no place for knives and bladed articles on our streets.”
