Pub near Salisbury closes permanently

A PUB found in a village near Salisbury has poured its last pint.

Owners of The Hook and Glove at Farley have announced that the pub closed its doors permanently yesterday (April 1), after spending 13 years at the helm.

They say they had hoped to secure new management, but this failed to materialise.

Taking to social media, the owners said the past few years have been financially difficult for not just themselves, but pubs across the country.

“I’m sad to say that the pub will be closed permanently from today, Pete having semi-retired,” they said.

“We were hoping to carry on under new management but unfortunately this did not work out.

“As I am sure everybody is aware the last few years have been incredibly difficult for pubs and it has been a struggle both financially and physically to keep The Hook and Glove afloat.

“Thank you to our many loyal customers over the years.

“With over 40 years of my family being closely associated with the pub, and the last 13 owning it, it is not the outcome we hoped for.

“Hopefully we will chat when you are perambulating round the village.”
