A BUSY route on the outskirts of Salisbury was closed on Friday morning after a lorry struck a bridge.
The incident happened on the A36 at Wilton at around 9.30am and saw a large vehicle caught beneath the railway bridge in Queen Street.
A Highways England spokesperson warned drivers to ‘expect delays’ as a diversion was put in place.
“The A36 in Wiltshire remains closed in both directions between the A30 at Wilton and the A303 at Deptford due to a lorry which has struck the railway bridge at Wilton,” they said.
Wilton firefighters were also called to the scene, as well as Wiltshire Police’s specialist operations team.
“Driver dealt with for careless driving,” they said.
