Salisbury hosts debut joint show by creative sisters

A NEW exhibition bringing together two artistic sisters celebrating creativity across a range of mediums is set to open in Salisbury.

‘Skin & Blisters’, a mixed media showcase by Rebecca Harris and Elizabeth Lee, will run at Fisherton Mill from Saturday, April 18 to Saturday, May 16.

The exhibition marks the first joint show by the sisters, combining paintings, ceramics and digital art.

While their styles differ, both artists draw strong inspiration from the landscapes and natural beauty of the South West.

Rebecca Harris, who holds an MA in illustration, has built a career as a professional illustrator.

Her work has featured regularly in Breathe magazine, and she has also created puzzles for the publisher Skittledog.

Rebecca’s pieces are known for their vibrant colours, intricate patterns and detailed celebration of the natural world.

Her sister, Elizabeth Lee, trained in art and design and has focused her practice on ceramic sculpture and painting.

Influenced by artists including Pablo Picasso and Ithell Colquhoun, as well as ceramicists Ruth Duckworth and Mo Jupp, her work explores texture, colour and surreal elements.

She often introduces unexpected details, giving her pieces a distinctive and sometimes uncanny edge.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet both artists in person during a special event at the gallery on Tuesday, April 21, from 11am to 3pm.

Organisers say the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience two contrasting yet complementary artistic voices in one space, with each artist bringing their own interpretation of the world around them.

‘Skin & Blisters’ is expected to attract art lovers from across the region, adding another highlight to Salisbury’s thriving creative scene.
