ONE of Salisbury’s best-known independent salons has doubled in size after completing a major expansion in the heart of the city.
Award-winning Muse Hairdressing, based in Winchester Street at the Cross Keys Shopping Centre, has unveiled a brand-new upstairs salon space following an ambitious 18-month transformation project.
The popular business, which first opened in 2020 during the uncertainty of lockdown restrictions, has expanded into the floor above its original premises.

The new upstairs.
A striking spiral staircase now links the two levels, giving clients panoramic views across Salisbury Market Square while creating what the team describes as a more luxurious salon experience.
The expansion has also allowed Muse to dramatically increase the size of its workforce, with the salon now able to welcome more clients and recruit more stylists.
Founder Lois Mant launched the salon alongside three long-time colleagues and has seen the business grow rapidly over the past five years.
Despite opening during one of the toughest periods for the high street, Muse quickly built a loyal following and picked up a string of awards for sustainability, customer experience, education and business performance.
As demand increased, the team decided it was time to think bigger.
“We weren’t ready to stand still,” said Lois. “We had growing demand from clients and talented stylists wanting to join the team.”
But the project proved far from straightforward.
Renovation work that was initially expected to take just 12 weeks eventually stretched to a year and a half due to structural complications and the challenges of working within an older city centre building.
Now fully open, the revamped salon is already turning heads among shoppers and visitors in Salisbury city centre.
Lois added: “We’re incredibly grateful to our clients who have supported us on this journey.”

A popular fixture in Salisbury.
