THE 8th Salisbury Methodist scout group held a picnic on May 7 to commemorate VE Day.
The event brought together scouts, their families, and leaders to celebrate the end of the Second World War in Europe and honour the sacrifices made by those who served.
Group leader volunteer Jon Coulton said: “Our leaders arrived late afternoon to set up and decorate the park, ready for the arrival at 6pm when all sections from the 8th Salisbury Scouts gathered at Ramas Garden to commemorate VE Day with a delightful family picnic.”

“No picnic is complete without delicious food, and the 8th Salisbury Scouts did not disappoint. Families brought homemade cakes to share. The previous week our beaver and cub sections made some wonderful bunting.
“The event not only honoured the past but also celebrated the present, bringing the community closer together. The leaders commented it was so lovely seeing so many families turn out.”
One young cub said: “The cakes were amazing.”
