AN UPCOMING meeting of the Sarum u3a will delve into the mystery surrounding a woman who disappeared on a ship bound for Southampton from Cape Town.
Speaker Paul Stickler will explain more about The Porthole Murder on Wednesday, April 16 from 10am to 10.30am at St Francis Church, Beatrice Road Salisbury SP1 3PN.
This presentation follows the life and last known movements of the victim – a 21-year-old called Gay Gibson – and explores the account provided by the man tried for her murder and his extraordinary suggestion that he had thrown her body through a cabin porthole.
The trial of the first-class deck steward has a fascinating aftermath and the presentation includes information not previously revealed in the public domain.
A spokesperson for Sarum u3a said: “Members and guests are warmly welcome to attend the meeting which will start at 10am with coffee. Guests are invited to join Sarum u3a after two visits.”
