Spudman mania hits Salisbury as viral TikTok star rolls in

A TIKTOK food sensation followed by millions is heading to Salisbury and fans are already preparing for queues.

Ben Newman, better known online as Spudman, will bring his famous ‘Spudwagon’ to Guildhall Square later this month for a special two-day pop-up event.

The jacket potato star will serve his famously loaded spuds on Saturday, March 21 from 10am to 10pm and Sunday, March 22 from 10am to 4pm.

Spudman has built a huge online following after turning his humble jacket potato van in Tamworth into a global social media phenomenon.

With more than 5 million followers on TikTok, his upbeat personality, hearty food and chaotic queue scenes have attracted viewers from around the world.

His loyal fanbase – known as the Spud Army – regularly travels hundreds or even thousands of miles to visit his van, with visitors arriving from countries including the United States, Australia and Malaysia.

The online star has even served celebrities, including Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, while his feel-good content has helped turn a simple street food business into a viral success story.

In a Facebook video, Spudman said: “We’re coming to your beautiful city! It looks gorgeous down there. It’s going to be amazing.”

News that he is bringing the Spudwagon to Salisbury has sparked a wave of excitement online.

Johnny Hill also predicted crowds, asking: “How many miles will the queue be?”

Others said they were already planning their visit.
