Teen, 15, arrested over “threat” email that closed Salisbury school

A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with the closure of a village school in Salisbury.

Wiltshire Police Officers arrested the 15-year-old boy on suspicion of communicating false information after an incident which saw Wyvern St Edmund’s Academy, in Laverstock, close on Wednesday (January 10).

The school said the closure came after a member of staff received a “potential security threat” by email early that morning.

“The youngster is currently in police custody and there is not thought to be any ongoing threat to pupils or staff at the school,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

Officers carried out extra patrols in the area around the school as it re-opened today, they added.
