FAMILIES are invited to step into the much-loved worlds of Winnie-the-Pooh and Paddington Bear this week at a Salisbury book store.

The Rocketship Bookshop is playing host to a special storytime session celebrating 100 years since Winnie-the-Pooh was first published, alongside the centenary of the birth of Paddington’s creator, Michael Bond.

There will also be a special best-dressed teddy bear competition where children are invited to bring along their favourite cuddly, dressed up for the occasion. Each entry will be photographed at the bookshop before being judged by Mayor Jenny Bolwell.

For those who would like to attend the free sessions, visitors are able to turn up on the day to enjoy their favourite stories, with no booking required.

Storytime sessions will take place at 11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm and 1pm on Friday (August 28) at The Rocketship Bookshop in Cross Keys Shopping Centre.

The winning teddy and prize will be announced at 2pm at the Paddington statue on Fisherton Street, giving families another opportunity to explore Salisbury as part of the day’s celebrations.
