A SURGEON in Salisbury has been ranked among the UK’s best orthopaedic specialists after hundreds of patients praised the care that helped them get their lives back.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Gurdip Shergill, who works at New Hall Hospital, has been named in Doctify’s UK Top 100 Medical Professionals List 2026 for Patient Experience – and ranked among the top five orthopaedic surgeons in the country.
The recognition is based entirely on feedback from verified patients with reviews assessed for quality, consistency and recency.
For many, the accolade reflects something far more personal than rankings.
One patient described how debilitating shoulder pain had turned everyday life into a struggle before surgery with Mr Shergill restored both movement and confidence.
They said: “Mr. Shergill completely changed my quality of life. Before my shoulder operation I struggled daily with pain and limited movement, but thanks to his skill, care and professionalism, I now have my mobility and confidence back.
“The surgery has made such a huge difference to my everyday life and I am incredibly grateful for everything he has done for me. Thank you, Mr. Shergill, for giving me my life back.”
Mr Shergill, who also works at Salisbury District Hospital, has received 741 verified patient reviews, earning an impressive 4.98 out of five score.
Patients frequently praise his expertise in knee replacement, shoulder surgery and trauma care.
Reacting to the recognition, he said: “There is nothing more gratifying than seeing that your patients are happy and pain-free and able to do the things they want to do.
“Surgery can feel daunting for a lot of patients, yet the feedback from my patients has been wonderful. I’m glad that I have had a positive impact on so many people, and I’m even more grateful to receive recognition for it.”
Mr Shergill has more than 36 years’ experience in orthopaedics, having trained in London and held senior leadership roles in Salisbury, including serving as head of service for orthopaedics.
Doctify’s rankings are drawn from more than 30,000 specialists across the UK, with places awarded solely through verified patient reviews.
