What’s next for A-Level students as children’s services chief wishes them well

While many students are looking ahead this week after picking up the A-Level results they hoped for, others may now fear their future is a little more uncertain.

However, no matter matter what the grade, Wiltshire Council is celebrating the achievements of all students across the county who received their A-Level, T-Level and other Level 3 qualification results.

On Thursday (August 13), pupils marked the culmination of years of study, now preparing for their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment.

Speaking on results day, Jon Hubbard, Wiltshire Councillor for Melksham South, and Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, SEND, Education and Skills, said: “Today is a huge milestone for young people across Wiltshire and I want to congratulate everyone receiving their results.

“Whatever your results, they reflect a great deal of work and commitment and there are many different routes available for what comes next. For some that will be university, while others will move into an apprenticeship, training or employment.”

Recognising not everyone will have received the results they needed, Cllr Hubbard urged students to explore the options available when things don’t go quite as planned.

He said: “If your results are not what you hoped for, there is plenty of support available and I would encourage you to speak to your school or college and take some time to consider the options open to you.”

Cllr Hubbard also praised those who have supported the students through their studies, adding: “I’d also like to thank our teachers, school and college staff, parents and carers for the support they have given young people throughout their education.”
