Wiltshire Council congratulates GCSE students on results day

WILTSHIRE students are being recognised for their “dedication and determination” today as they collect their results.

GCSE and Vocational Technical Qualification (VTQ) pupils are finding out today how the faired and Wiltshire Council is celebrating their achievements.

The council also thanked the teachers, school staff, parents and carers who have supported their young person through their education so far.

Cllr Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Skills and Education, said: “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the young people across Wiltshire receiving their GCSE results today.

“Your determination and resilience are truly inspiring, and I hope you feel proud of everything you’ve achieved.

“Whether today brings celebration or reflection, please remember that support is available, and your future holds many exciting possibilities.

“I’d also like to thank the teachers, school staff, parents, and carers who have provided invaluable support throughout this journey. From delivering lessons and offering guidance, to providing encouragement and practical help, your dedication has made a real difference.”

GCSEs are currently ranked on a 9-1 scale, where 9 is the top grade and grade 4 is a standard pass, roughly in line with the former Grade C.

VTQs are practical qualifications for over 16s, designed to help students to get the required skills to start a career or enter higher education.

Students that do not receive the grades they anticipated should initially speak to their school or college who can offer help and advice about options available to them including the appeals process.

Wiltshire Council has a dedicated results day support page on the Work Wiltshire website offering advice and resources including what to do if your exam results aren’t what you hoped.
