11-year-old girl hit by car in Amesbury after driver ignored red light

AN 11-year-old girl was knocked down by a car in Amesbury after the driver failed to stop at a red light.

Police say a silver car, believed to be a Mercedes A-class, which was travelling on London Road from the direction of Tesco Extra towards Amesbury town centre failed to stop at a red light and collided with a child at around 3.40pm yesterday (October 15).

A police spokesperson said: “We believe the area was very busy at the time and we would like to thank the members of the public helped the child.
