A SALISBURY-BASED literacy group has made an urgent appeal for volunteers.

Julia West has led the South and East Wiltshire Read Easy group since its launch three years ago but has decided to let someone else take up the challenge.

She said: “I am really proud of what we have achieved to date. I would like to thank all our volunteers, without whom none of this could happen.

“We are always looking for new volunteers and would love to hear from you if you can help in any way.”

The team is desperately seeking a coordinator, administrator and fundraiser.

The coordinator role involves meeting and enrolling adults who want to learn to read and interviewing volunteer reading coaches.

They would then pair them up and offer ongoing support throughout their reading journey, visiting their reading sessions occasionally and maintaining support through regular calls with both reader and coach.

People with administration skills are vital to support the smooth running of the management team, and those motivated by sales or development, would be suited to the fundraiser position.
